What cookies are

A short definition, then the two kinds that reach this site.

Cookies are small text files that a website asks your browser to store on your device. They let the site remember something between visits — a preference you set, or the fact that you have already seen a notice — instead of asking you again on every page you open.

Two kinds of cookies reach this site. First-party cookies are set by dionspizzas.site itself. Third-party cookies come from a service the page loads, such as a video player or a map, and they are stored under that provider's name rather than ours. Cookies do not run programs on your device and they cannot read other files on it. Most are short-lived session files that disappear when you close the browser; the rest carry an expiry date and are removed when it passes.

This policy covers dionspizzas.site only. It does not describe what a browser, an operating system, or any other website stores on your device, and it does not apply to the Dion's Pizza cookbook as a printed product.

Cookies we use

This site keeps its cookie list short on purpose. Here is every category you may encounter, what it stores, and how long it stays.

Cookie preference

Stores whether you accepted or declined non-essential cookies, so the notice does not follow you around the site.

Up to 12 months

Session handling

Keeps a browsing session consistent so pages load correctly as you move between them.

Until you close the browser

Analytics

Where enabled, counts which recipe pages and style guides are read most. Reports are aggregated; they do not identify you.

Set only if enabled

Embedded content

Appears only when you choose to load a video or another embedded element from a third-party provider.

Set by the provider

No cookie on this site is used to build an advertising profile of you, and none of them are sold or shared for marketing purposes.

Third-party cookies

An embed is like the oven here: useful when you want it, and completely avoidable if you would rather read the recipe without it.

What we control

We choose which outside services appear on this site, and we keep that list as short as the page needs. What we cannot do is read or delete a cookie that a provider sets on its own domain, change how long it keeps that cookie, or change what the provider does with the information afterwards.

What you control

You can decline embedded content through the notice, block third-party cookies in your browser, or use a private window so the provider's files are discarded when you close it. If you would rather not deal with a provider at all, every recipe page reads fine without the embed loaded.

Managing cookies

Where the switches live, and what happens when you flip them.

Your browser holds the real controls. In the settings menu, most browsers list the cookies currently stored on your device, let you remove them one by one or all at once, and let you block new ones from specific sites or from everyone. The wording differs — Chrome calls it site data, Safari groups it under privacy, Firefox keeps a separate cookie manager — but the effect is the same.

Blocking every cookie does not lock you out here. You can still read the cookbook pages, browse the pizza styles guide, and reach the contact details. What changes is convenience: the site may forget your cookie choice and ask again, and an embedded video may not load until you allow it. If you clear your browser data regularly, expect the notice to reappear after each clear.

Your choices

You can accept or decline non-essential cookies in the notice shown on your first visit. Declining does not keep you out of anything on this site — it simply turns off the optional categories.

Your answer is stored so you are not asked on every page, and you can change it later by clearing your browser data and letting the notice appear again. Essential cookies stay on regardless of your answer, because the site needs them to hold your preference in the first place. Nothing about this choice is final: come back in a month, clear the stored data, and pick differently.

Changes and contact

This policy may be updated if the site's use of cookies changes. When that happens, the revised version replaces this page and the date below moves. Questions about cookies or privacy are welcome through the contact page, or by post to the address below.
